Vancouver

Checking out of Whistler a day early was a good idea. We got some really nice weather when we arrived in Vancouver. Sunny and a bit warm—comparatively speaking. Lots of great views along the way.  Seems to be the par for BC...such a beautiful place, all be it freaking expensive!

While we weren’t able to check into the hotel immediately upon arrival, we were able to park in the hotel lot. Not free or anything. $29 Canado bucks! Shit this place is expensive!
First we went to Grainville Island. Holey moley there were a lot of shops there. So many fascinating things. We had a quick lunch in the main market part. I had a maple and butter crepe. OMG. I love crepes, and this one was similar in authenticity as the ones they sell on the street in Paris. Yummy. Mike had some fresh vegan food—a couple bean salads, cold couscous and a pita.

Walking around, we found a place called The Hang Out. They specialized in hammocks and hammock chairs. Although we recently just purchased some chair swings for the pergola, these hammock chairs were quite different. After walking off lunch a little, we returned and purchased two of them. Instead of getting the chain cable attachment, we opted for the rope and cable, so we can theoretically hang them from any joist on the pergola! Yay! More seating. I smell a pergola party in our near future!

We also checked out the floating houses on Grainville Island.  So insanely cool!

We ended up walking all the way thru the Heritage District and onto Robson Street. Lots and lots of shops. I was in the mood to spend, but couldn’t seem to find anything interesting. Then we went further and into Gastown. How fitting that Mike had the farts too, after all those bean salads! We stopped at the Steamworks Brewery and Pub. Mike had been longing for an IPA since we tried the Grainville Island ones which blew chunks.  Unfortunately, the "IPA" at Steamworks was more like a watery pilsner.  Booo Hiss!!

After our woeful beer experience, we headed back to the hotel.  I pretty much fell right asleep.  Got a little road weary.  Slept like a rock!
