The signs before the Peach Arch said that the wait was 2 hours. Luckily, it was more like 45 minutes. Zipped right in, didn't have to pay any duties on the ice wine either. Mike did let out a queal as soon as we were waived thru the border.
There's no place like home!
After Coupeville, we drove down the island and boarded the Clinton-Mulkteio ferry. Once we landed in Mulkteio, we drove to the Edmonds-Kingston ferry. There was no way we were going to get on the boat with our car with the after work / holiday weekend traffic, so we parked our car about 10 blocks from the dock. We parked next to a church and across from the police station, so we felt comfortable that either the baby Jebus or Johnny Law would be looking after our beloved Subaru! We just barely made the 4:30 sailing and met our good friends, the Walkers on the other side in Kingston.
We pretty much went straight to their favorite watering hole, the Hood Canal Brewery. They must've known how much Mike was hankerin for a real IPA. We stayed for several pints--too busy drinkin to snap any pics sorry! We then headed back to Casa de Walker. Such a cute house tucked nicely into a sleepy lush green street! And we finally got to meet the Bear dog!!!
After a great couple of bowls of some homemade crock pot chili, some vintage pinball and great convo, we called it a night around midnight! A late one for all of us early birds!
Thanks for hosting us, Chris and Carissa!!! It was great!!
